We recommend that you shower beforehand to ensure that you're free of makeup, lotions, and perfumes.

Additionally, we recommend staying hydrated by drinking enough water (preferably mineral water) before, during, and after your session.

We recommend bringing a swimsuit or athletic wear, a bath towel for drying off (if you plan to chill with cold water), drinking water to stay hydrated, and slip-on/off shoes for easy access to and from the sauna (consider boots in winter). 

There is a small changing room to keep your extra items, but space can be tight. Phones should be kept in the changing room, as high temps in the hot box can damage electronics.

The sauna temperature can vary depending on several factors. Typically, after 45-60 minutes of burn time, it reaches around 145-160 degrees Fahrenheit, which is comfortable for most users. However, outside temperatures can influence both the heating time and the final temperature. We provide a temperature gauge in the hot room for easy monitoring. Additionally, introducing steam into the space can significantly increase the perceived heat level.

Yes, we recommend it! We provide a bucket, ladle, and a gallon of distilled water ready for the task. You can also add on essential oil aromatherapy — just add to your bucket and pour the infused water over the hot rocks.

That depends on a lot of things! A general guideline is about 15 minutes at a time, but you really need to listen to your body, If you feel like it's time to get out and cool down, do so — it's not a competition!

Yes — we offer a plunge tub as an add-on to your service. You will need a water hose that will reach to the area where we set up the sauna, and a place suitable for draining the water after your session. We will provide a 25-foot hose to help direct the draining.

Children are allowed & encouraged to participate in Sauna sessions, however, children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Absolutely! We'll give a brief orientation on best practices and how to operate the wood-stove. You will also receive written directions.

The sauna is disinfected and dried out after each rental.

Your rental includes delivery within 30 miles of Eagle River, WI.

For deliveries beyond that, we charge $7 per mile. For example, if you're 45 miles from us: 15 extra miles x $7 = $105 delivery/pickup fee.

Our mobile sauna is designed to be easily set up in a variety of locations, whether you’re at home, hosting an event, or staying at a vacation rental. We can deliver our saunas to almost any legal location with solid level ground and decent roads along the route, including your backyard, driveway, or a suitable outdoor space at your chosen venue. We just need enough space to navigate our vehicles and park. Always contact us to discuss your proposed event site.

However, we do have a few requirements:

• Ensure the parking area is relatively flat.
• Choose a parking surface that is relatively firm, such as cement, gravel, grass, dirt, or hard-packed snow.
• The parking area should be a minimum of 18 ft long X 10 ft wide.
• Any entry gates should be at least 10 ft wide to accommodate the sauna.
• Clear any overhanging trees or obstacles with a minimum clearance of 12 ft.
• Keep the parking area free of debris, including dog waste.
• After snowfall, ensure that roads and the parking area are promptly plowed and/or shoveled.

If you're not the property owner, you must have their written permission for us to deliver the sauna. Here is a sample message you can send to your host:

Hello. We're really looking forward to our upcoming trip to Eagle River! We're thinking about renting a mobile sauna from Northern Steam Co. while we're staying at your place, and we wanted to check if it's okay to park it in the driveway. Northern Steam Co. is licensed and insured, and they'll handle everything from delivery and setup to pickup. They'll even provide us with an orientation on how to use the sauna safely. Any roads and parking areas need to have snow cleared, both on delivery day and pick-up day.

We will provide enough wood for you to run the sauna for several hours each day of your rental. If you use more than that, you may add it on to your rental or use kiln-dried hardwood from a grocery store or gas station.

You may NOT use wood containing tree sap/softwoods, painted or stained wood, or fresh cut/gathered wood from the property.

When you book, we require a 50% non-refundable reservation fee. The remaining 50% is due 7 days before your rental date.

If you cancel after paying in full (7 days before your rental date), there is no refund.

If we need to cancel your reservation due to reasons like a winter storm, and we can't find a new date that works for you, we'll give you a full refund, less credit card processing fees.

4 to 8 adults can fit comfortably in the sauna at one time, depending on size and personal space tolerances. Since traditional sauna sessions are taken in several rounds (heat, chill, rest, repeat) a dozen people or so can simultaneously make use of the sauna by alternating rounds.
